Dedicated Veteran Job Fair for Port Jobs Honorably Discharged Veterans The Port of New York and New Jersey needs you!!
EDISON – The New York Shipping Association (NYSA), the International Longshoremen’s
Association (ILA), and The American Legion, Department of New Jersey, Economics &
Employment Committee today announced a dedicated Veteran’s job fair to be held Wednesday, May 28th 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The job fair will be held at the Maher Terminal main office building located at 1210 Corbin Street, Elizabeth, NJ. Pre-registration is preferred; to register email vetsjobfair@nysanet.org.
This event is specifically focused on hiring honorably discharged Veterans for port jobs in the Port of New York and New Jersey. “This is the first ever job fair for Veterans to be held in the Port. I am proud to announce that we have been working with the American Legion and several key partners to help Veterans find good paying jobs in the Port of New York and New Jersey,” said John Nardi, President of NYSA. “The International Longshoremen’s Association likes to say our initials “ILA” also stand for “I Love America,” said ILA President Harold Daggett. “We do and we love Veterans too and are proud to join NYSA, the American Legion and all of the organizations in hosting this Port Jobs for Veterans Job Fair.”
Veteran’s interested in attending need to bring copies of the following documentation with them:
A valid driver’s license
DD-214 that shows type of discharge (or equivalent for National Guard/Reserve)
Resume
Completed application (obtained upon registration)
On the day of the event, when arriving at Maher Terminal, follow the direction signs for parking and enter the building on the first floor – the job fair is being held in the Maher Terminal Training Room, located on the first floor of the building.
