Veteran drawn to WWII Dog Tags at Flea Market
Gary enjoys going to Flea Markets in Florida. A few weeks ago was just another Flea Market day until he ran across a vendor selling a set of dog tags. He was infuriated that someone would be trying to sell them. A veteran himself, he knows how much he and his comrades treasure their military dog tags. Although Gary was unable to persuade the vendor to see his point of view and give them to him for free, he ended up purchasing the dog tags in hopes of trying to find the veteran/family they belonged to. He knew just the person to call - he had sought help from Sue Quinn-Morris of Patriot Connections Dog Tag project in the past. It paid off.
The set of dog tags belonged to Army WWII Veteran, George Kroeger, who served in the Army. Originally from Ohio, George and his family moved to Florida in the mid 60's. Unfortunately George passed away in 1986 - his wife and a son both died in 2005 and in the shuffle of estates it appears his dog tag ended up in the hands of a vendor at the Flea Market.
Fortunately for the acts of Gary purchasing the dog tags and contacting Patriot Connections Dog Tag Project, a surviving son of this hero WWII veterans is now in possession of his fathers dog tags. Gary intends on keeping his eye out at all the Flea Markets he goes to for any more military dog tags.
