Military Dog Tag of George R McCullagh

One of the dog tags that Mr Sapp found belongs to George Rant McCullagh. George was born in Galena, Kansas on November 3, 1901. He was a Navy veteran of WWI. He had worked as an agency manager for the Travelers Insurance and a manager for Barnard;s Phonograph Records. A graduate of College of Emporia, he attended the University of Kansas where he was a member of the Phi Delat Theta fraternity. He was a Presebyterian and a master of the Galena Masonic Lodge and a commander of the Galena Commandery Knights Templar. He was a board member of Kansas City Philharmonic and the Lyric Opera, and was the founding president of the Lyric Opera Guild.
He passed away on August 2, 1979. At the time of his passing, he was survived by his 2 brothers. He had not been married or had children. In his obit, his family suggested contributions to the Kansasy City Lyric Opera.
George McCullagh was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO , alongside his parents John and Ella, and later his siblings, John and James, were buried there after their deaths.
After researching, Quinn-Morris sent the information to David Owen - he paid a visit to the Kansas City Lyric Opera in March 2024 and they will be returning the dog tag to a surviving family member they have contact with - presumably a niece or nephew. David was also able to take a photo of McCullagh's plaque on the Lyric Opera Guild's Presidents Board of Directors.
