Military Dog Tag of Clarence Strode found at Tonopah Nevada training grounds
We were contacted by Jeff Thompson, who found 2 military dog tags at the Tonopah Nevada training grounds. He was looking for assistance in finding the veterans they belong to and/or their family.
One of the dog tags belongs to Clarence E Strode, a WWII veteran. Clarence Strode entered the Army Air Force in November 1942 and served as a baker, being stationed at Camp Tonopah for a majority of his time in the service. Unfortunately, this WWII hero passed away at the age of 71, in Florida.
He is buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Fleming, Kentucky. His wife Julyla passed away in 2001. See below for some articles/reference to this WWII veterans time in service. RIP Clarence, and thank you for your service.
We have been able to locate next of kin and plans are underway to send the dog tags to them.
