1/13 – Update on Veteran & Disabled son

After sending out email request for help with motel stay, an additional 5 nights stay has been donated. That should give him up to Saturday 1/18. Everyone is working diligently on finding housing for him.

1/10 – Update on VETERAN & Disabled Son

The homeless veteran and his disabled son are still at the motel in Plainfield and are actively looking for permanent housing. One place he did find that may work for him does not have an opening until Feb. He is still searching.

He is looking for a 1 bedroom apartment with a budget up to $900/mth. He is looking to be in one of the following towns; Plainfield, South Plainfield, North Plainfield, Edison, Cranford, Garwood, Iselin, Woodbridge, or Avenel.

Current donations carry him up to Monday, January 13th in the motel in Plainfield. If anyone is able to donate towards extending his stay at the motel, please email squinn9807@aol.com and you will be forwarded details on how to do such.

He recently lost his job and is seeking employment as well. He is a trucker. We have received a job lead from LTC (ret) Robert Vicci, and the veteran is following up with this lead. Just in case this lead doesnt pan out, if you know of a job opening, please send it along.

There have been several offers of furniture – the veteran really appreciates the offers, but has indicated he is not in need of furniture.

If you are able to help in his quest for an apartment, job, or donation for motel stay, please email squinn9807@aol.com

January 7,2014 – VETERAN & Disabled Son Need Our Help

We have been contacted about a homeless Veteran and his disabled adult son that need some help – quickly. See below.

“We have a Veteran and his adult severely disabled son who are currently homeless in Union county. The son requires feeding tubes, and other medical care that precludes him from being admitted to any homeless shelter. He needs a refrigerator for his medication. Social Services paid for the motel up until today (1.6.14). SSVF does not allow us to pay for motels for families with adult children (even though the son is severely medically disabled). We only have enough donation funds from Community Hope for 3 nights.
The Veteran is close to finding housing, but it is very cold out and after Wednesday, they will have no place to go.”

If you, or anyone you know can help assist with DONATIONS for Motel Fees OR HOUSING please contact Sue at squinn9807@aol.com or 856-495-7270 and we will put you in touch with contact at Community Hope.
