A native Philadelphian, Spc. Devin Kuhn, 24, suffered injuries from the shooting in the housing area at Camp Rilea, Oregon. The camp is the main training facility for the Oregon National Guard.Kuhn was an automatic rifleman assigned to Alpha Company, 2nd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
He deployed once to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, and his awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Expert Infantryman Badge and the Ranger. His remains will be returning to PHL and needs to be escorted to a funeral home in NE Philly.
Due to the Eagles parade, the police department is low on manpower and Chief Boyle has asked the local pro-military groups to help out with this dignified transfer.
