OBIT
Jacob U. Dare Jr. Monroeville, NJ Jacob U. Dare, Jr., 92, “Jake” was a proud World War II Navy Veteran, a Proud American, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather left for his heavenly home on January 12, 2015. Born in 1922, Jake grew up in Monroeville, NJ. One day he met a blue eye young girl named Mary Porch at Iona Lake. However, on that fateful day, December 7, 1941 they both knew that love would have to wait as Jake enlisted in the U.S. Navy and stepped into history as part of the Greatest Generation. He was in nearly every major naval battle in the Pacific spanning four years of service. At the end of the war he came home, began working in the shipyard industry and did not speak of the horrors for sixty years. Instead, he lived a life of a common workingman, loving his wife and children. Jake loved the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers always hoping that this would be their year. He also enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycles. However, in addition to his family his greatest joy came in attending church services at the Malaga Methodist Church and later in life going to church services at the Veterans Home in Vineland where he currently lived. He read his bible daily and said prayers for the people he knew by name as well as for the President and his beloved country. He leaves behind him his wife of seventy-two years, Mary (Porch), daughter Patricia Deguenther and her husband William, son Jacob U. Dare III and his wife Debra and their children, Jacob, Kimberly, Heather and Joseph, son, retired Vineland Police Sergeant William Dare and his wife Terri, their daughter Shawn Rivers and her husband Tori, their children Kendyl and Kara and his beloved dog Rosie. In addition to his parents, Jacob Sr. & Maud Dare, his siblings Edward Dare, Florina Dunham, Walter Dare, Dorothy Ford and Grace Oldfield predeceased him. – See more at: http://obits.nj.com/obituaries/southjerseytimes/obituary.aspx?pid=173845713#sthash.J6JNvNOl.dpuf
