Army Colonel Ken McCreedy and Bob Johnson will be speaking about Fort George Gordon Meade on the 100th Anniversary of its founding in 1917. The fort is a United States Army installation located in Maryland, that includes the Defense Information School, the Defense Media Activity, the United States Army Field Band, and the headquarters of United States Cyber Command, as well as numerous other commands and agencies. It is named for General George G. Meade, the victor of Gettysburg, who served as commander of the Union Army of the Potomac during the Civil War.

The post was originally called Camp Meade Cantonment and Field Signal School. During World War II, Fort Meade was used as a recruit training post and prisoner of war camp, in addition to a holding center for approximately 400 Japanese, German and Italian immigrant residents of the U.S. arrested as potential organized, clandestine people who might sympathize with enemy forces. The Second U.S. Army Headquarters transferred to the post in 1947 and in the 1950s the post became headquarters of the National Security Agency.
