Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10th for Nicholas Oresko, the World War II Medal of Honor Recipient hero who died Friday at the age of 96. Oresko was an Army master sergeant when, badly wounded, he wiped out two enemy bunkers near Tettingen, Germany, during the Battle of the Bulge. He died at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center of complications following surgery for a broken right femur, said John Carbone, a family friend. It was the same leg that was wounded on Jan. 23, 1945, as he crawled alone from one enemy machine gun bunker to another to take them out with grenades and his M-1 rifle. Although he had no immediate surviving family members, Oresko was surrounded by friends, veterans and young members of the military service during his final days. His funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Anna Maria Ciccone Theater at Bergen County Community College, 400 Paramus Rd, Paramus. The funeral service will be followed by interment at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Rd.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED in participating in the FUNERAL / HONOR MISSION;

 All participants (cars and bikes) will be staging/meeting away from Bergen Community College. All should plan to start arriving at 11:15. We will be staging/meeting on Robin Road (all the way to the end of the road), which intersects Century Road in Paramus. We will be holding our pre-mission meeting at around 1145. KSU from the staging area will be at 1200.

Per Patriot Guard –  NO BIKES OR CARS SHOULD GO DIRECTLY TO THE CEMETARY OR BERGEN COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THE BERGEN COUNTY SHERIFF WILL BE TURNING AWAY INDIVIDUAL RIDERS AT THE COLLEGE. WE HAVE TO DO OUR PART TO HELP THE SHERIFF WITH WHAT IS EXPECTED TO BE A HUGE CRUSH OF MOURNERS ARRIVING FOR THE SERVICE AT THE COLLEGE.
