The Camden County Board of Freeholders and Office of Veteran Affairs, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, ESGR and The American Legion, and their Camden County Executive Committee, is announcing a Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) job and coaching fair, which is part of a nationwide effort to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment.

The hiring event will be hosted by the Susquehanna Bank Center 1, Harbour Blvd., Camden, NJ 08103, NJ, and managed by those listed above. It will also be supported by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD, the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMAVA), the Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS),), the State Parole Board, NJ State Libraries, and other local partners.  Veterans and their spouses are encouraged to take advantage of this event, on Wednesday, May 14 from 11 am to 2 p.m., at the Susquehanna Bank Center.  Resume writing and interview skill “coaching”/training will start at 8:30 am.  The above listed supporting organizations and other veteran related agencies will be available to provide attendees with additional information regarding their state and federal benefits.

“The Board of Freeholders is very happy to be co-sponsoring the Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair,” said Camden County Freeholder Board Deputy Director, Edward T. McDonnell, who is liaison to the county’s Office of Veteran Affairs. “We are committed to our veterans and want to help them in every way possible as they pursue a new career after serving our country.”

Hiring Our Heroes, a program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, was launched in March 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. Working with The American Legion and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s vast network of state and local chambers and other strategic partners from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, the goal is to create a movement across America in hundreds of communities where veterans and military families return every day. Hiring Our Heroes has hosted more than 660 hiring fairs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. As of January 2014, Hiring Our Heroes has helped 240,000 veterans and military spouses find employment; more than 21,600 hires have resulted directly from hiring fairs such as this one.

Veteran and military spouse job seekers and employers should go to hiringourheroes.org to register.  Employers must have current job openings, and must register.   If you need assistance registering, please contact us at [email protected].
