We will once again be calling on the motorcycle community to join us as we escort Heroes from Our Greatest Generation to LIMA for their Honor Flight to Washington DC for the day.

Sunday September 21st, 2014. There will be two escorts this morning with two separate stages, as we will be escorting two WW2 Veterans to the Airport.

West Stage – 0430 hrs. Staging at the VAC (Veterans Activity Center) 2184 Pond Road, Ronkonkoma.
We will be escorting Robert Wiebolt, US Army Air Cop, bomber pilot (Levittown resident).
You can either stage at the VAC or be staged at the 7-11 located right off Southerstate parkway and Wantagh Ave at 611 Sand Hill Road, Hempstead at 0500. We need to be at Mr Wiebolts home by 0515

East Stage – 0445 hrs. Staging at the American Legion Post 924, 55 Ponoquogue Ave, Hampton Bays.
We will be escorting Warren Schultheis, US Army Air Corp, B-17 pilot. (Ridge resident)
You can either stage at the AL post or be staged a the 7-11 on William Floyd Highway (near expressway) at 0515. We need to be at Mr. Shultheis Home at 0530.

In May we had over 26 riders between two rides escort three WW2 Veteran to the airport. September of 2013 we had over 34 riders escort a 99 year old Veteran from Smithtown and in June of 2013 we had over 30 motorcycle riders join us as we escorted a 93 year old WW2 Veteran to the airport, who actually rode to the airport on the back of a motorcycle.

Let us show these Soldiers that we truly appreciate their Service to Our Country and give them a morning to talk about!!

For those that don’t ride, be at the Airport a little before 0600 and meet and greet all the Heroes going on the Honor Flight. Shake the hands of the Heroes and say THANK YOU. Some could also use a hand getting out of the car and into wheelchairs.

The return flight lands at 2030 hrs for any of you that would like to be there to Welcome the Heroes Home.

For anyone that would like to make a donation towards Honor Flight, we have set up a pay-pal link on our website: http://www.bootsonthegroundny.com/product/donations-for-honor-flight-long-island/

All WW2 Veterans go on the trip for Free, paid for by community donations. This is a great way to Show appreciation for Our Freedoms that they protected over 70 years ago. WW2 Veterans are Our living History and sadly they won’t be here for much longer. We will be presenting any donations that come in on that Sunday morning.

Ride Safe!
