Joseph J. Charlton, resident of Maple Shade, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2016. He was 94 years old. Joe was Maple Shade’s most decorated war hero.
According to his son, Joe was a charter member of Richard White Post 925, as a member for over 60 years. Additionally he was a member of VFW Post 2445, Maple Shade, NJ for many years and was the highly decorated WWII at the VFW Post 2445. His accomplishments include 4 campaigns, North Africa, Monte Casino, among others. He was awarded 3 Bronze Stars, and 4 Purple Hearts.
