US ARMY Staff Sgt. Michael Bruzgis

Staff Sgt. Michael Bruzgis of Delanco, formerly of Secaucus, N.J., died
Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 while serving in the United States Army. He served with
distinction for two tours of duty in Iraq and one tour of duty in Afghanistan,
where he earned two Army Commendation Medals, the National Defense Service
Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Iraq
Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, and the Global War on Terrorism Service
Medal. SSgt. Bruzgis is survived by his mother, Harriett; his brothers, Thomas
and Christopher; and two nieces, Emily and Elizabeth. He was preceded in death
by his father, Thomas Bruzgis Sr.
SSgt. Bruzgis dedicated his life to the service of our country, but also was a
dedicated son, brother, uncle and friend and had a tremendous impact on so many
lives, including befriending and consoling of the surviving family members of
fallen soldiers.

The family will receive their friends at the Sweeney Funeral Home, 337
Bridgeboro St., Riverside, NJ 08075 on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m.
and again on Wednesday, Dec. 12 from 9 to 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial
will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Jesus the Good Shepherd Church (St. Peter’s Site),
101 Middleton St., Riverside. SSgt. Bruzgis will be laid to rest in Arlington
National Cemetery in Virginia.
