Russ Dodge began a lifelong love of history in his youth. Walks through local cemeteries in his boyhood home of Salem, New Jersey caused him to realize that cemeteries are a treasure of history, and every person’s story needed to be found and told. He started historical explorations of burial grounds while attending Kean University in Union, New Jersey, taking pictures and recording grave stones, with a special eye towards Civil War veterans. He discovered the burial web site:’Find-a-Grave’ and reached out to the, and soon became an active contributor providing photos and biographies he had researched and uncovered.
