— The annual Millville Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for next Monday, May 28 at 9 a.m. and will proceed down Veteran’s Way to High Street.

The parade will continue south on High Street to Main Street, then west on Main Street to Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

There will be a pause at the Maurice River Bridge for a naval service.

The parade will line up at 8:15 a.m. between the Millville Public Library and the Nabb-Leslie American Legion Post 82 on Buck Street.

Robert W. Looby, former commander of the New Jersey American Legion will serve as the parade marshall and keynote speaker.

Under Looby’s leadership, the organization raised over $130,000 to furnish the major additions to the Veterans Haven, a state run halfway house for homeless veterans.

The haven provides long term health care, job training, counseling and other much needed assistance to veterans in transition back to their community.

Rev. Charles D. Mitchell will serve as this year’s chaplain. He is the pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church of Millville.

Also, veterans organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, community civic and religious organizations and government leaders will be featured in the parade.

Following the services at the Mount Pleasant Veterans Memorial, there will be a reception for all participants at the American Legion hall on Buck Street.
