POW Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl Nationwide Rallies

As many Americans prepare to celebrate their freedom during the upcoming Independence Day weekend, an American soldier, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, will begin his fifth year as a Prisoner of War of the Taliban.  He was captured on June 30, 2009, and many Americans do not even know that he is being held hostage, and despite efforts to secure his release, he is still being held in enemy hands. Captured in the Paktika province of Afghanistan, it is believed that Sgt Bergdahl is being held in Pakistan by the Haqquani network. Now age 27, Sgt. Bergdahl, in videos released by the Taliban, begs to come home and to be with his family. He has escaped his captors twice, only to be caught and brought back to the group holding him.  His parents recently received a letter from him, thanks to the efforts of the International Red Cross.  Though it was scripted and redacted, his parents say they know it is his handwriting and that it is from him. Across the United States this weekend, supporters of Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl will hold events, pray, advocate and rally to educate Americans that we have a young soldier who been a POW in the current conflict for four years now – FOUR YEARS TOO LONG! For more information on the efforts to raise awareness of Sgt. Bergdahl’s situation, please contact Jon Asdourian, jdasdourian@verizon.net, 7322611846,  and follow the group working for Sgt. Bergdahl’s release on Facebook at Four Years Too Long.
