The Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) is the fourth-largest municipal police department in the US.Over 6,500 sworn officers and 800 civilians work for the department, which serves an area of approximately 140 square miles with 1.5 million residents. The PPD’s mission is based on partnership, humanity, and leadership, which are embodied in the departmental slogan “The PHL Way.”
