Representatives from the Wilmington VA Medical Center (VAMC) and Philadelphia Veterans Benefits Administration invite Veterans to attend a Benefits Resource Fair and Veteran Town Hall meeting on Sept. 21. The Resource Fair will be held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 386, 419 Congress Str., Cape May, N.J. The Town Hall will follow the resource fair from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the same location. The event allows Veterans to receive information about VA benefits and services and provide valuable feedback on VA programs.
The resource fair is an opportunity for Veterans and their family members to learn about VA programs, enroll for VA health care benefits and seek information about VA disability claims. Representatives from the medical center will be on-hand to help Veterans enroll for health care. For Veterans who are already enrolled in the VA for their health care, VA staff will be able to explain programs like MyHealtheVet, prescription drug benefits, the Veterans Choice Program and more.
“These meetings allow us to get feedback from Veterans, family members and other stakeholders,” said Robin C. Aube-Warren, director for the Wilmington VA Medical Center. “We want to hear from Veterans, what they need us to improve upon as well as what we are doing right. Sometimes we think we are doing what Veterans want, but we may be off the mark. That’s why it is important we hear first-hand how we can better serve them. It’s also an opportunity for OEF/OIF/OND Veterans to come out and get important information about the services available to them.”
Veteran Town Hall meetings are being held at least quarterly and offered at different times and locations to accommodate as many people as possible.
“Caring for Veterans is a calling, and our first commitment is to provide Veterans and their families the timely, quality care and benefits they have earned and deserve through their service to our Nation,” said Secretary McDonald. “As we seek continual improvement and to rebuild trust among Veterans, it is critical that we continue to Microphone
