Please come out to welcome home PFC Matthew Rutter from his deployment in Afghanistan.
- PFC Matthew Rutter is with the 25th Infantry Division, 3rd Brigade Combat team, 7th Field Artillery Regiment.
- He is 21 years old and is returning from his first deployment which was a 1 year tour in Afghanistan.
- Matt is a graduate of Cumberland regional High School (Class of 2009)
- Matt is looking to re-enlist with the US Army with hopes of getting into the 82nd Airborne Division and go on to Ranger School (which would be following his grandfather’s footsteps).
- He has always been interested in Media Technology and Film Production.
- He is enrolled in college to study Criminal Justice and has hopes to be a member one day of a SWAT Team.
- Matt is the youngest of family members who have served their country; Grandfather SFC William Guthridge, Brother SSG Kenneth Rutter III, Cousin MSGT Craig Guthridge.
- Matthew has been awarded the following awards and medals:
- National Defense Service Medal
- Afghanistan Campaign Medal
- Global War on Terrorism Medal
- Army Service Ribbon
- Army Service Ribbon
- NATO Medal
