US Army Specialist John P Williams
Our Hero is a “08” Graduate of Rancocas Valley high school and was a member of the Naval ROTC for 4 years, John joined the Westampton Fire Department October 07, where he became a certified Fire Fighter 1, June 08. A year later he joined the Mount Holly Fire Department. In May 08 John joined the Willingboro Emergency Squad and became a certified First Responder.
Following in the Military tradition of his Grandparents Joseph William Sr WWII Veteran serving in Japan, and Will L Dodd, Korean War Veteran serving in Europe, Judith Dodd Korean War Veteran serving in the US, John joined the Army and was sent to basic training Fort Knox, There he was trained in Tanks and Strykers. John’s first base assignment was to Grafenwohr, Germany. There he became an active volunteer with the USO serving his fellow service men and women and their families during his stay there. In July 2011 John was deployed to Afghanistan. Then in Jan 2012, John was on patrol where he sustained injuries due to an IED Bomb and earning a Purple Heart. In May, John and his unit were on patrol when they were engaged by enemy fire. John was shot in the vest, surviving the attack with little more than bruises thanks to the equipment he was wearing and the angels that watched over them all.
