Dog Tag Returned to Sister of Vietnam Veteran Edward Raiche
Edward Raiche, was born in New Hampshire in 1947. He went on to serve in the Army in Vietnam (1968 – 1970).
Unfortunately, shortly after coming home, Edward died in a boat accident while duck hunting in Great Bay, NH.
And now, after all these years, a relic of Edward Raiche’s time in Vietnam has made its way home – his dog tag.
Raiche’s dog tag was among hundreds brought home in 1993 in Vietnam by a retired Police Chief and Vietnam Veteran, who was there as logistics support coordinator for a group called Operation Smile. In the streets outside his hotel, he met villagers who had what appeared to be old, rusty American dog tags. He later (2010) gave them to us to locate and return the dog tags to the veterans.
We have been working with the Nam Knights of America Motorcycle Club to personally hand deliver each dog tag to its original owner or the veterans next of Kin.
President of the White Mountain Chapter of the Nam Knights of America, and Epsom NH resident, Iron Mike Dempsey delivered the first dog tag for a NH veteran on June 12, 2013 to Lorraine Krochmal of Nashua, NH – sister of deceased Vietnam veteran Edward Rachie . His dog tag was delivered along with a folded American Flag in an emotional presentation at Lorraine’s home in Nashua, NH.
