“Hiring Our Heroes” Employment Fair Scheduled for February 21, 2013, Somerville, NJ
Somerville, Dec. 12, 2012 – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, ESGR and The American Legion is announcing a Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) job fair, which is part of a nationwide effort to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment.
The hiring event will be hosted by The American Legion, Stevenson-D’Alessio, Post 12 in Somerville, NJ. It will be conducted and co-sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, ESGR, and The American Legion. It will supported by the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMAVA) the Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (LWD), the Veterans Administration VA, the State Parole Board, and NJ State Libraries, and other local partners. Veterans and their spouses are encouraged to take advantage of this event, on Thursday, February 21, 2013, from 10 am to 1 p.m., at Legion Post 12, 232 Union Ave., Somerville, NJ. The above listed supporting organizations and other veteran related agencies will be available to provide attendees with additional information regarding their state and federal benefits.
“In March of 2011, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s National Chamber Foundation launched Hiring Our Heroes, a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. Working with our network of 1600 state and local chambers and other strategic partners from the public, private, and non-profit sectors, our goal is to create a movement across America in hundreds of local communities where veterans and military families return every day. Hiring Our Heroes has hosted more than 355 hiring fairs in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia; more than 14,100 have gotten jobs (through September 30, 2012). We have significantly expanded our efforts in 2012 with a goal of hosting hiring fairs in 400 communities, the establishment of a stand-alone program for military spouses, and a sustained campaign to enlist the commitments from the small business community to hire veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014.”
